How Long Does WMS Integration Take: Timelines by Warehouse Size and Where Time Goes

How long does WMS integration take? A consultant with 30+ go-lives breaks it down: 8–12 weeks for a small single-site warehouse, 3–6 months mid-market, 6–12 months for large automated sites — plus the go-live night checklist and the three ways projects lose time.

WMS Data Migration Best Practices: Clean These Three Data Types Before Go-Live

Eight out of ten WMS go-live failures are data migration failures: dead SKUs hogging prime slots, book-to-physical gaps, item masters missing dimensions. WMS data migration best practices boil down to one rule — scrub your inventory data before the system goes live. Three checklists inside.

How Long Does OMS Implementation Take? A Phased Timeline

How long does OMS implementation take? Short answer: there is no single number, only bands. A small team with 1–2 sales channels and a few thousand SKUs can go live in 6–8 weeks. A mid-size operation with 3–5 channels lands at 3–4 months. Six or more channels, tens of thousands of SKUs, multiple warehouses — budget 4–9 months. I'm not guessing: Fluent Commerce states publicly that an MVP OMS project goes live in 6–12 weeks and that even complex ones rarely exceed 9 months, and the 2025 Salesforce OMS market study found average go-lives of 4 months, with the fastest at 5 weeks. So if a vendor quotes you 2 weeks, ask questions. If they quote 12 months, also ask questions. Both can be true — what matters is which band you're in.

WMS Go-Live Master Data Cleanup: Three Checklists for SKUs, Locations, and Inventory

In 2019, I worked a WMS go-live with a 3PL warehouse in Ontario, California - 80,000 square feet, 12,000 SKUs. First week after cutover, the mispick rate jumped from 2% to 9%. Customer service got buried in calls. The software was fine. The integrations were fine. Three days of digging later, the implementation team found the real problem: the data migrated from the legacy system. More than 800 SKUs had no barcode at all, 300-plus had messed-up units of measure (cases and eaches mixed together), and 50-some location codes didn't match between the old and new systems. The owner spent $400,000 on a new system and got taken down by a handful of spreadsheets.
