Colombia 'absolutely booming', as ecommerce squeezes air cargo capacity

Colombia is "absolutely booming" for ecommerce imports, with an estimated 3,000-4,000 tonnes arriving by air each week and capacity being snapped up as soon as it appears, airfreight wholesalers told The Loadstar. LATAM Cargo's ecommerce volumes on the US-Colombia corridor rose 53% in January-August, and analytics firm Rotate reports ecommerce demand into the country up 16.8% quarter-on-quarter while cargo capacity fell 6.7%. With demand growing faster than available lift, shippers should expect tighter space and upward pressure on rates.
